وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ
Wassama-i wattariq
By the heaven, and At-Târiq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star);
The Nightcommer
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ
Wassama-i wattariq
By the heaven, and At-Târiq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star);
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ
Wama adraka ma attariq
And what will make you to know what At-Târiq (night-comer) is?
ٱلنَّجْمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ
Annajmu aththaqib
(It is) the star of piercing brightness;
إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ
In kullu nafsin lamma AAalayha hafith
There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels in charge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds)1
فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ
Falyanthuri al-insanumimma khuliq
So let man see from what he is created!
خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٍ دَافِقٍ
Khuliqa min ma-in dafiq
He is created from a water gushing forth,
يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ ٱلصُّلْبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ
Yakhruju min bayni assulbi wattara-ib
Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs.
إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٌ
Innahu AAala rajAAihi laqadir
Verily, (Allâh) is Able to bring him back (to life)!
يَوْمَ تُبْلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ
Yawma tubla assara-ir
The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth).
فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ
Fama lahu min quwwatin wala nasir
Then he will have no power, nor any helper.
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجْعِ
Wassama-i thati arrajAA
By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again.
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدْعِ
Wal-ardi thati assadAA
And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants).
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ
Innahu laqawlun fasl
Verily, this (the Qur’ân) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil).
وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلْهَزْلِ
Wama huwa bilhazl
And it is not a thing for amusement.
إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا
Innahum yakeedoona kayda
Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم).
وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًا
Waakeedu kayda
And I (too) am planning a plan.
فَمَهِّلِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًۢا
Famahhili alkafireena amhilhum ruwayda
So give a respite to the disbelievers; deal gently with them for a while.
