وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا
Walmursalati AAurfa
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allâh) sent forth one after another.
Tafsir Al-Muyassar: أقسم الله تعالى بالرياح حين تهب متتابعة يقفو بعضها بعضًا، وبالرياح الشديدة الهبوب المهلكة، وبالملائكة الموكلين بالسحب يسوقونها حيث شاء الله، وبالملائكة التي تنزل من عند الله بما يفرق بين الحق والباطل والحلال والحرام، وبالملائكة التي تتلقى الوحي من عند الله وتنزل به على أنبيائه; إعذارًا من الله إلى خلقه وإنذارًا منه إليهم ; لئلا يكون لهم حجة. إن الذي توعدون به مِن أمر يوم القيامة وما فيه من حساب وجزاء لنازلٌ بكم لا محالة.
فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا
FalAAasifati AAasfa
And by the winds that blow violently.
Tafsir Al-Muyassar: أقسم الله تعالى بالرياح حين تهب متتابعة يقفو بعضها بعضًا، وبالرياح الشديدة الهبوب المهلكة، وبالملائكة الموكلين بالسحب يسوقونها حيث شاء الله، وبالملائكة التي تنزل من عند الله بما يفرق بين الحق والباطل والحلال والحرام، وبالملائكة التي تتلقى الوحي من عند الله وتنزل به على أنبيائه؛ إعذارًا من الله إلى خلقه وإنذارًا منه إليهم؛ لئلا يكون لهم حجة. إن الذي توعدون به مِن أمر يوم القيامة وما فيه من حساب وجزاء لنازلٌ بكم لا محالة.
وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا
Wannashirati nashra
And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain.
Tafsir Al-Muyassar: فإذا النجوم طُمست وذهب ضياؤها، وإذا السماء تصدَّعت، وإذا الجبال تطايرت وتناثرت وصارت هباء تَذْروه الرياح، وإذا الرسل عُيِّن لهم وقت وأجل للفصل بينهم وبين الأمم، يقال: لأيِّ يوم عظيم أخِّرت الرسل؟ أخِّرت ليوم القضاء والفصل بين الخلائق. وما أعلمك -أيها الإنسان- أيُّ شيء هو يوم الفصل وشدته وهوله؟ هلاك عظيم في ذلك اليوم للمكذبين بهذا اليوم الموعود.
فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا
Falfariqati farqa
And by the Verses (of the Qur’ân) that separate the right from the wrong.
Tafsir Al-Muyassar: ألم نهلك السابقين من الأمم الماضية; بتكذيبهم للرسل كقوم نوح وعاد وثمود؟ ثم نلحق بهم المتأخرين ممن كانوا مثلهم في التكذيب والعصيان. مِثل ذلك الإهلاك الفظيع نفعل بهؤلاء المجرمين من كفار «مكة» ؛ لتكذيبهم الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم.
فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا
Falmulqiyati thikra
And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers,
Tafsir Al-Muyassar: ألم نهلك السابقين من الأمم الماضية؛ بتكذيبهم للرسل كقوم نوح وعاد وثمود؟ ثم نلحق بهم المتأخرين ممن كانوا مثلهم في التكذيب والعصيان. مِثل ذلك الإهلاك الفظيع نفعل بهؤلاء المجرمين من كفار "مكة"؛ لتكذيبهم الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم.
عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا
AAuthran aw nuthra
To cut off all excuses or to warn.
Tafsir Al-Muyassar: هلاك وعذاب شديد يوم القيامة لكل مكذِّب بأن الله هو الإله الحق وحده لا شريك له، والنبوةِ والبعث والحساب.
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ
Innama tooAAadoona lawaqiAA
Surely, what you are promised must come to pass.
Tafsir Al-Muyassar: ألم نخلقكم -يا معشر الكفار- من ماء ضعيف حقير وهو النطفة، فجعلنا هذا الماء في مكان حصين، وهو رحم المرأة، إلى وقت محدود ومعلوم عند الله تعالى؟ فقدرنا على خلقه وتصويره وإخراجه، فنعم القادرون نحن.
فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ
Fa-itha annujoomu tumisat
Then when the stars lose their lights.
Tafsir Al-Muyassar: ألم نخلقكم- يا معشر الكفار- من ماء ضعيف حقير وهو النطفة، فجعلنا هذا الماء في مكان حصين، وهو رحم المرأة، إلى وقت محدود ومعلوم عند الله تعالى؟ فقدرنا على خلقه وتصويره وإخراجه، فنعم القادرون نحن.
وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ
Wa-itha assamao furijat
And when the heaven is cleft asunder.
Tafsir Al-Muyassar: هلاك وعذاب شديد يوم القيامة للمكذبين بقدرتنا.
وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ
Wa-itha aljibalu nusifat
And when the mountains are blown away.
Tafsir Al-Muyassar: ألم نجعل هذه الأرض التي تعيشون عليها، تضم على ظهرها أحياء لا يحصون، وفي بطنها أمواتًا لا يحصرون، وجعلنا فيها جبالا ثوابت عاليات؛ لئلا تضطرب بكم، وأسقيناكم ماءً عذبًا سائغًا؟
وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ
Wa-itha arrusulu oqqitat
And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed.
لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ
Li-ayyi yawmin ojjilat
For what Day are these signs postponed?
لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ
Liyawmi alfasl
For the Day of Sorting Out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell).
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ
Wama adraka ma yawmualfasl
And what will explain to you what is the Day of Sorting Out?
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
Alam nuhliki al-awwaleen
Did We not destroy the ancients?
ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
Thumma nutbiAAuhumu al-akhireen
So shall We make later generations to follow them.
كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
Kathalika nafAAalu bilmujrimeen
Thus do We deal with the Mujrimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals).
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ
Alam nakhluqkum min ma-in maheen
Did We not create you from a despised water (semen)?
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ
FajaAAalnahu fee qararinmakeen
Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb),
إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
Ila qadarin maAAloom
For a known period (determined by gestation)?
فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ
Faqadarna faniAAma alqadiroon
So We did measure; and We are the Best to measure (the things).
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا
Alam najAAali al-arda kifata
Have We not made the earth a receptacle
أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا
Ahyaan waamwata
For the living and the dead?
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا
WajaAAalna feeha rawasiyashamikhatin waasqaynakum maan furata
And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains, and have given you to drink sweet water?
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
Intaliqoo ila ma kuntumbihi tukaththiboon
(It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny!
ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبٍ
Intaliqoo ila thillinthee thalathi shuAAab
"Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-Fire smoke ascending) in three columns,
لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ
La thaleelin walayughnee mina allahab
Neither shady, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire."
إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ
Innaha tarmee bishararin kalqasr
Verily, it (Hell) throws sparks (huge) as Al-Qasr (a fort or a huge log of wood),
كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ
Kaannahu jimalatun sufr
As if they were yellow camels or bundles of ropes.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ
Hatha yawmu la yantiqoon
That will be a Day when they shall not speak (during some part of it),
وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ
Wala yu/thanu lahum fayaAAtathiroon
And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
Hatha yawmu alfasli jamaAAnakumwal-awwaleen
That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together!
فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ
Fa-in kana lakum kaydun fakeedoon
So if you have a plot, use it against Me (Allâh جل جلاله)!
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ
Inna almuttaqeena fee thilalinwaAAuyoon
Verily, the Muttaqûn (the pious. See V.2:2) shall be amidst shades and springs.
وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
Wafawakiha mimma yashtahoon
And fruits, such as they desire.
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Kuloo washraboo hanee-an bimakuntum taAAmaloon
"Eat and drink comfortably for that which you used to do."
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineen
Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers. See V.2:112).
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ
Kuloo watamattaAAoo qaleelan innakummujrimoon
(O you disbelievers)! Eat and enjoy yourselves (in this worldly life) for a little while. Verily, you are the Mujrimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals).
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ
Wa-itha qeela lahumu irkaAAoo layarkaAAoon
And when it is said to them: "Bow down yourself (in prayer)!" They bow not down (offer not their prayers).1
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Fabi-ayyi hadeethin baAAdahuyu/minoon
Then in what statement after this (the Qur’ân) will they believe?
